Sunset Cove Villas above Cleo Cove in Laguna Beach

Amenities

A day, kept simple. A view, kept open.

Sunset Cove is a small property without the choreography of a hotel. What we provide is shaped around how guests actually spend their day: a cove waking up in the morning, terraces and a rooftop holding the afternoon light, a firepit going on at dusk. Below, what to expect at each hour, and what is included in every villa.

Eight oceanfront villas at the quiet end of Sleepy Hollow Lane, with direct beach access onto Cleo Cove. The day at Sunset Cove tends to move with the light: an early swim before the village wakes, an afternoon on the terraces or the rooftop, and a long, slow evening with the ocean for company.

Each villa arrives ready to live in. The shared grounds (paths, gardens, the stairway to the beach, and a rooftop deck with a firepit) are open to all guests. What follows is a plain-English account of what is here, how it works, and the small things we have learned over the years to leave out. For policy and stay details, see the villa information page.

Beach access from Sunset Cove Villas onto Cleo Cove at low tide Chapter 01

The Morning

A cove the village has yet to find.

The stairway at the foot of the property opens onto Cleo Cove, a public Laguna cove that is at its best in the first hours of the day. Bring a coffee. Low tide rewards the early.

Direct beach access

Stairway to the sand

Stairs lead from the property down to Cleo / Sleepy Hollow Cove. Most guests are on the sand within a minute of leaving their villa.

Shared beach gear

Towels, chairs, small umbrella

A small set of shared beach gear is available on a first-come, first-served basis. If having your own kit matters to you, we recommend bringing it along.

First-light swim

Calm water, soft sand

The cove is gentle at low tide and small enough to feel like your own before the day picks up. Mornings are quietly worth setting an alarm for.

Outdoor showers

Rinse off on your way up

Outdoor showers at the foot of the stairway let you rinse the sand and salt before walking back to the villa.

The view from the rooftop is the kind that quiets a conversation. By the time the sun is on the water, the day has slowed by half.

The Afternoon

Terraces, a rooftop, and the long view.

The shared grounds at Sunset Cove are made for the middle of the day. Garden terraces step down toward the water. A rooftop deck holds the afternoon light. A grill or two waits if dinner is going to be slow.

Rooftop deck

Ocean view, open to all guests

A shared rooftop deck with ocean views sits above the property. Open to all guests; functions a little like a shared lounge through the afternoon.

Garden terraces

Shade, sun, a quiet seat

Shared garden paths and terraces step down through the property. Plenty of small corners to set up a book or a long phone call with the ocean as the background.

Outdoor grills

Shared, on the property

Outdoor grills are available to all guests. Easy nights tend to begin with whatever the market in the village had in the case that day.

Private balconies & patios

In every villa

Each villa has its own outdoor space: a balcony, a deck, or a private patio. Several look directly over the cove; a few open to Catalina on a clear afternoon.

The Evening

Slow nights with the cove for company.

As the light goes long, the property quiets. The firepit on the rooftop comes on. The village holds a handful of restaurants worth walking to. Most evenings end on a deck.

Rooftop firepit

Gas, shared, open evenings

A gas firepit on the shared rooftop deck. A natural gathering spot once the sun is on the water and the air turns.

Concierge on request

Bookings, suggestions, the small things

Local guidance is available on request. Restaurant bookings, a surf report, a quick recommendation: write or call and we will sort it out.

A short walk to dinner

Coast Highway, 10 to 15 minutes

Without the choreography of a hotel, evenings are yours to spend. We are nearby when you need us and out of the way when you do not.
