Villa Information

Everything you might want to know, gathered in one place.

Eight oceanfront villas at the quiet end of Sleepy Hollow Lane, with direct beach access onto Cleo Cove. A practical companion to help you choose a villa, plan your stay, and feel at home in Laguna.

Sunset Cove Villas is a boutique collection of eight oceanfront villas in north Laguna Beach. The property sits directly above Cleo Cove, a public Laguna cove tucked at the foot of Sleepy Hollow Lane, with stairs leading down to the sand.

The villas range from one-bedroom retreats for two to a three-bedroom flat that opens onto Catalina views. Each is fully furnished, fully equipped, and let on its own. Booked together, the property holds about thirty guests, which makes it a quiet fit for a small wedding party, family reunion, or extended-family stay.

This page is the practical companion to the villa collection: how the eight differ at a glance, what to expect on the property, and the questions guests most often ask before booking.

Booking & policies

How we accept reservations, what to expect at the time of booking, and the practical rules of a stay.

How do I book a villa?

Book directly through the villa collection page. Enter your dates, choose the villa that suits your party, and reserve in a few steps. If you need more than one villa, you can add multiple villas to a single reservation.

For whole-property stays or wedding weekends, use the inquiry form so we can hold the right dates for you.

What is the minimum stay?

Two nights for most of the year. Three or four-night minimums apply on holiday weekends and during peak summer. The booking calendar will tell you the minimum for the dates you choose.

When is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is at 4:00 PM. Check-out is at 10:00 AM. We can sometimes accommodate an earlier arrival or a later departure; ask us ahead of time and we will do our best.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellation terms are shown on your reservation summary at the time you book. As a general rule, cancellations made more than 90 days before arrival are refundable.

We strongly recommend travel insurance for stays involving flights, weddings, or large groups.

Is a deposit required at booking?

A booking deposit may be charged at the time you reserve, depending on when the booking is made. Any deposit collected is applied toward the total of your stay. The full schedule is shown on your reservation summary.

What is the minimum age to book?

The lead guest on the reservation must be 25 or older and present for check-in. Guests of any age are welcome to stay; the requirement applies only to the person booking.

Are pets allowed?

We welcome well-behaved dogs in a selection of the villas with prior notice and a pet fee. Please tell us at the time of booking so we can place you in a dog-friendly villa and prepare it.

Can I book more than one villa for a group?

Yes. The villa collection page lets you build a reservation across multiple villas in a single booking. For four or more villas, write to us so we can coordinate as a group stay.

The property & villas

How the villas differ, what the property feels like in person, and how to choose between the eight.

How do the eight villas differ from each other?

Each villa has its own footprint and outlook. Laguna is the largest at three bedrooms and looks out toward Catalina. Seychelles has a full waterfront deck. Majorca holds six in a two-bedroom layout. Calypso and Djakarta and Lanai are one-bedroom retreats for two; Calypso has the Catalina view, and Djakarta and Lanai each have a private patio. Antigua and Martinique are sibling two-bedrooms for four.

If you tell us who is travelling and what matters most, we are happy to suggest the villa that suits you best.

How far are the villas from the sand?

Steps. The property sits directly above Cleo Cove, with a stairway down to the sand at the foot of Sleepy Hollow Lane. Most guests are on the beach within a minute of leaving their villa.

Is parking included?

Each villa has an assigned garage spot. Parking is $45 per night, settled at check-in. If you are arriving with more than one car, let us know in advance so we can plan around it.

Is the property accessible for guests with limited mobility?

The property is on a coastal hillside, so it does involve stairs both between villa levels and down to the beach. A few villas are easier than others; if mobility is a consideration, write to us before booking and we will recommend the right villa and explain what to expect.

Are the villas connected, or fully separate?

Each villa is its own self-contained home with its own entrance, kitchen, and living space. The villas share the grounds and the path to the beach, but the homes themselves are private.

Is the property suitable for families with children?

Yes. Families travel to Sunset Cove often. Laguna and Majorca are the natural fits for families thanks to their size, and the cove below is gentle at low tide. Tell us the ages of children travelling and we can suggest the best villa for your group.

Are there shared spaces between villas?

The grounds are shared: paths, garden terraces, the stairway down to the beach, and a rooftop deck with ocean views and a firepit that all guests are welcome to use. The rooftop reads a little like a shared lounge in the evening. The villas themselves remain fully private.

What floors are the villas on?

The villas are arranged across multiple levels of the hillside, all of them with an outlook toward the ocean. Some sit closer to the cove; others sit higher, with the longer view. Detail by villa is on the collection page.

Amenities & in-villa

What is provided, what to expect to find when you arrive, and the comforts you do not need to pack.

Is Wi-Fi included?

Yes. Every villa has its own dedicated high-speed Wi-Fi included with your stay. It is suitable for remote work and video calls.

Do villas have full kitchens?

Yes. Every villa has a full kitchen with cookware, dishware, glassware, a coffee maker, and the basics: salt, pepper, oil, paper towels. Plan to provision your groceries on arrival; recommendations are in the next section.

Is air conditioning provided?

Yes, in every villa. The Laguna coast is mild for most of the year, and many guests use the air conditioning only on a handful of warm afternoons.

Are linens and towels provided?

Yes. Bed linens, bath towels, hand towels, and a starter set of beach towels are provided. Additional beach towels can be requested.

Is there laundry on-site or in the villas?

Laundry is shared. A laundry room above the garage is available to all guests. The villas themselves do not have in-villa washers and dryers.

Do you provide beach gear?

A small set of shared beach gear is available on a first-come, first-served basis. If having your own kit matters to you, we recommend bringing it. Boards and snorkel gear can also be rented from a few shops in Laguna; we are happy to point you to a favorite.

Is there a BBQ or shared grill?

Yes. Outdoor grills are available on the property for all guests to use.

Can you accommodate infants and toddlers?

A pack-and-play and a high chair can be arranged on request. Please let us know at the time of booking so they are set up in your villa before you arrive.

Laguna Beach & the area

How to plan your time once you arrive: getting here, getting around, eating well, and the small choices that make a Laguna trip a good one.

When is the best time of year to visit?

Late spring through early fall has the warmest days and the longest swims. May, June, September, and October are the quietest of the warm months: the days are clear, the water has turned, and the village is more its own self. Winter is mild and bright; if you want to walk the coast alone in the morning, it is a fine time to come.

How do we get to Laguna Beach from the nearest airport?

The closest airport is John Wayne (SNA), about 20 minutes by car. Long Beach (LGB) is about 45 minutes, and Los Angeles (LAX) is about an hour and a half, longer in traffic. Ride-share is straightforward from any of the three.

Do I need a car while staying?

It depends on your plans. The villas are walkable to a handful of restaurants and the Laguna trolley runs along Coast Highway in season. For exploring the wider Laguna coast, neighboring beaches, and Newport, a car makes the trip easier.

What is the closest grocery store?

Pavilions on South Coast Highway is the closest full grocery, about 5 minutes by car. Whole Foods in Laguna Hills is about 15 minutes. A small market on Coast Highway can cover the essentials and a bottle of wine.

Where should we eat? Should we book ahead?

Laguna has a small, well-loved restaurant scene. The Rooftop Lounge at La Casa del Camino is a favorite for sunset. The Deck, 230 Forest Avenue, and Driftwood Kitchen are reliable in town. For dinner on weekends in season, book a week ahead; we are happy to make suggestions and reservations for you.

What can we walk to from the villas?

A coffee shop, a small market, and a few restaurants are within a 10 to 15 minute walk along Coast Highway. The main village and Heisler Park are closer by car or trolley. The cove itself is at the bottom of the stairs.

What are the best day trips from Laguna?

Crystal Cove and the tide pools to the north. Dana Point Harbor and a half-day on the water to the south. Laguna Canyon for the art walk and the Sawdust Festival in summer. Catalina Island is a full day by ferry from Dana Point if the weather is settled.

What should we do with kids?

The cove below the villas is gentle at low tide and full of small discoveries. Heisler Park has shaded lawn and tide pools nearby. Crystal Cove State Park is good for an afternoon. The Pacific Marine Mammal Center is a calm visit on a cooler day.
